Sou professor na área de língua portuguesa - estudos gramaticais da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG em Belo Horizonte, e trabalhei anteriormente na Universidade para Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira - Unilab, campus da Bahia. Fui pós-doutorando na Unicamp (Campinas) e na UQÃM (Montreal). Interesso-me pela estrutura da linguagem (teoria sintática), pela variação e mudança linguística e pela interação entre estrutura e o significado nas línguas (interface entre texto, pragmática e sintaxe), com especial aplicação às línguas românicas. Tenho interesse também em línguas oeste-africanas.

I am a professor of Portuguese Language - Grammatical Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte. I have previously worked at the International University for the Afro-brazilian Lusophony (Unilab, Bahia). I was a postdoctoral fellow in Linguistics at the University of Campinas, Brazil and a visiting scholar at UQÀM, Montreal. I am interested in the structure of language (syntactic theory), on language variation and change and how structure and meaning interact (syntax/semantics/pragmatics interface), com special application to Romance languages. I have also interest on West African languages.
